A VELLAINE book is made the slow way, because a book that will be opened for fifty years deserves it.

Photographs, not print

Each page is exposed onto 440gsm Fuji lustre photographic paper by silver halide — the same chemistry as a darkroom print. The result is continuous tone, deep blacks and skin that looks like skin, with a soft lustre that resists fingerprints.

A spine without a seam

Our pages are rigid and joined at the spine without a fold or a stitch, so the book opens perfectly flat at every spread. A photograph placed across the middle runs unbroken from one edge to the other — the horizon stays exactly where you set it.

The cover

Your chosen photograph wraps the hard cover, finished in matte or gloss, with the title of your choice along the spine.

Checked by hand

Every book is inspected page by page before it is wrapped. If it is not perfect, we make it again. Delivery within Australia is complimentary and insured.
